Along with Ron Hem, Don was a founding member of Alschuler, Simantz & Hem, LLC. He retired from the practice of law on December 31, 2014 and is now of counsel to the firm.
Don concentrated his practice in the areas of family law and representation of creditors. He was a 1970 graduate of the University of Notre Dame, with a major in finance. In 1975, Don received his Juris Doctorate from John Marshall Law School, with honors, and was named to the Order of John Marshall.
Don was admitted to the Illinois Bar in 1975 and practiced his entire career in Kane and surrounding counties. He was also admitted to practice in the Northern and Central Districts of Illinois.
Don served as a Director of Provena Hospitals and of Provena Mercy Medical Center in Aurora and was a member of its Finance, Quality and CEO Search Committees. He also served as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Provena Mercy Medical Center.
